Daily Diary, Day 1086: Going to be a short post because I have a scheduled phone call, and I think I tired myself out with all the anticipation and weather report posting yesterday!! Bottom line is that for most of San Diego the whole Tropical Storm Warning turned out to basically herald a day of rain, with a few minutes of gusty wind in the afternoon.
This is not to say that the rain, which was pretty gentle most of the day, wasn't significant simply because of how sustained it was, and the time of year (when we don't expect rain.). So our total precipitation for the neighborhood was 2.73, which is a lot, and was pretty consistent with other totals for the city, the mountains got higher numbers going from between 3 to 7 inches.
Also, the San Diego river, which is usually underground, did flood--which is not unusual when heavy rains, there were traffic disruptions, and some fallen trees (a neighbor told my husband on his first walk of today that a tree fell in their block yesterday and attracted a camera crew, desperate for news.)
But all together a non-event, but I do believe it was good for the city to practice getting ready for this kind of event (I just hope it doesn't end up in the cry wolf syndrome!)
Meanwhile I made very good progress on plotting, and I might even be able to start writing tomorrow on the prologue.
I didn't walk this morning because I had some cleaning I postponed from yesterday (and it was still drizzling this morning...more along usual early morning mist...but I will try to walk this afternoon or after dinner.
I will leave you with a flower from the day before the storm.
