Daily Diary, Day 624: Glad to say that I did better in writing this weekend, averaging 747 new words a day. That was even with a couple of research diversions, one of which I will write up in tomorrow's post.
It was cooler last night, so I had a better night's sleep, and when I started out my morning walk it was still cloudy. Sun shining by the end of the walk and getting hot. I've noticed that in the warmth, it is the tiny blooms that seem to be doing a better job of surviving, so I took a close up picture of one of these blooms.
It has been fascinating watching the landscaping guys dismantle the old railroad tie steps in the back yard (which were definitely a safety hazard) and build a temporary wooden frame for the concrete they will pour for new steps. The basic math this takes to figure out angle, depth and height of steps, etc is mind boggling.
Today, looks like it is going to be one for doing tasks, not much writing. I had to pay bills, and do a fairly complicated set of steps to shift my audiences from one newsletter mailing system to substack, as well as figure out (ie remember because I don't do this step very often) how to change the language in the emails that get sent out when someone subscribes.
I don't know about the rest of you, but one of the elements of aging that I notice is that if I don't do a task very often, and there has been some time between doing the task, I have to relearn how to do it all over again.
Sometimes it's actually harder to do than the first time, because I think I remember (which means I don't look up the instructions) but I'm often missing one crucial piece. That happened today, I went around in this loop 4 times, couldn't figure out what the error message was about, so I kept trying different things, getting the same result. Finally, I figured the problem out, but wasted about twenty minutes!
Now its time to see what else is on my to-do list before I exercise and have lunch. Enjoy your day!
