Daily Diary, Day 919: First of all, thanks to everyone who pointed out that the photo of what I called lilac yesterday was of wisteria. I could pretend I did this deliberately, to see how many of you were out there and awake, but I have shared repeatedly about not being good with the names of flora (trees, bushes, plants, etc.) Never have been, so I can't blame it on my age.
I remember when my sister-in-law, who was a master gardener, would come to visit me in the various places we lived in the southwest and would ask me for the names of plants as we walked together. My primary answer was "I have no idea." I always felt very proud of myself that I could tell her bottlebrush, and bird of paradise for the two most exotic plants, but they look like their names, so they were pretty easy.
Yesterday I was proud that I didn't slip and call the plant lavender, but since we have a lot of lavender in the front yard (see below), that would have just been sloppiness on my part.
As expected, because of noon meetings, I didn't get a lot of editing done today, only cutting 367 words. In the morning I did do massive cleaning under the bed frame, behind the nightstands, etc once we had dismantled the airbeds we were replacing with a new foam mattress today. Not that I don't try to dust there, but there were some places I just couldn't get to with the bed assembled.
The mattress came just as I finished, and tonight I will see how it works for me. Keeping fingers crossed that it works for both of us The reason we had air mattress is because we could have separate levels of firmness. However, for some reason as I aged, I wanted more firmness, so we are more alike now, so we shall see.
All the editing was this afternoon, and I did stop in time to complete a 35 minute walk. Then I will start on making a salad for dinner.
Tomorrow, only one phone call, the border collie isn't coming over to play, and the next couple of chapters should be pretty easy to edit, so I am hoping I can make up for today.
I'm like you....don't know plant names either. I just enjoy their beauty and lovely smells.
I had to laugh, Mary Lou! I was part of a garden club for years. My brain never really soaked up all of the weath of information shared about plants. I just wanted my yard to be pretty!!!
