Daily Diary, Day 917: I am going to say this is a taking care of business day. First of all, great night's sleep, full 8 hours. Then I have a phone call this afternoon that I had to do some preparation for, so that this morning I did that, showered, and my husband took me to ophthalmologist.
He examined, tried to ease out some of the gunk, put a cortisone shot in eyelid, which is supposed to help soften it up and drain. I am to start putting the anti-biotic cream back on, finish the oral antibiotic, and keep doing the hot compresses. If this doesn't resolve it, then I go back and they do an incision. Keeping fingers crossed I won't have to do that.
When I got home, I did cleaning, did hot compresses, ordered groceries, cleaned out my email inbox, and now it will be soon time for lunch.
If all goes well, I should be able to get a little editing done before and after my phone call. Or I will just soak my eye, because I confess, right now the eye and sinuses are all complaining just a little bit about all the attention!
Going to leave you with a substack I read this morning that I really enjoyed. It asked what kind of a plant I was. I decided a pansy or a daisy.
My mother planted a whole lot of pansies of different kinds every spring, and my job every day was to go out and pick blossoms to put in little vases. They always reminded me of such sweet little faces. And now I want to figure out how to get a couple of pansy plants to see if they will do ok in my kitchen window.
But I decided to end with daisy because they are one of the key flowers I actually have photos for (although they may not be real daisies-but daisy-like ice plants)
I like to think of myself as these plants because they always look cheerful, they come in so many different colors that they are never boring, and they seem to be very hearty and persistent, since they are often the only thing that blooms throughout all the seasons here in San Diego.
So what plant to you think you are?
I'm enjoying your letters. You have so much more energy and discipline than I. Sorry about the eye, but most of us have health problems. Wishing you rapid improvement and happy days!
Sorry your eye is still bothering you. Hopefully the medications will take it down. As far as flowers go, although I love geraniums, they are temperamental in the PNW. Daisies grow abundantly and happily with their faces to the sun. I seem to be much the same way, pointing my face to he sun whenever it’s around.
