Daily Diary, Day 938: Well, I had to spend about an hour this morning making sure FaceBook didn't cancel my account because of the 1882 newspaper article I included in yesterday's post, which "violated" community standards. Sigh.
I would have been more sympathetic if I didn't see the posts a young person I know shares all the time on their FB page that are not some historical example of the misogynist attitudes of 150 years ago, but of misogyny today. Anyway, the resolution was for me to get rid of the post on facebook.
This also tipped me towards doing what I was already thinking about doing, which is limit the daily posts on Facebook to just my daily activities, but expand on things like research that I turn into Historical Tidbits, Science Tidbits, or posts on my author journey, etc to these substack posts.
Meanwhile, after that hour, I cleaned, went for 30 minute walk, then spent the morning working on my friend's manuscript, with a long phone call after lunch. After this post, I am going to do another month of sales data recording and analysis, and that should get me through to dinner.
Here is the freesia I saw on today's walk. I noticed them in a number of yards, seems as if they are one of the major spring flowers that have appeared after the rains. Definitely cheered me up after the FB incident.
The history behind "dognapping" was interesting and I didn't interpret that article as approving of violence against women at all!
FB is so frustratingly arbitrary about what violates their "community standards". They recently hid a comment on a friend's post as "potentially offensive". The offending comment? "Knock 'em dead!" in response to a post about starting a new job.
