Daily Diary, Day 1009: Actually some sun now, but I am feeling great sympathy for everyone in Canada and the northern US for the horrible air quality caused by the Canadian wildfires! Checked in with my young relative in New York City, who called me to say he had just finished calling all his clients (he is a psychiatric social worker) and team members cautioning them to stay inside, and what they should do if they started experiencing certain symptoms. 3 years ago, the first summer of Covid, we had wildfires to the north of us that caused terrible air quality, and forced us inside (and I ordered a good HEPPA filter air purifier) but it was nothing like this!
If any of you are suffering from this, feel free to comment and tell us how you are doing. Feels positively dystopian from the photos on line.
Meanwhile, back here in San Diego I had a good walk in the morning when it was still cloudy and cool, got some writing done, had a scheduled phone call after lunch (and unscheduled call from relative), and now if I get another couple paragraphs written before dinner, I should hit my 500 word goal and have finished scene 7, which i will try to get up tomorrow.
Here is are 3 rose blooms that caught my eye from a distance because of the contrast between the bloom in the middle that was past its prime and the other two blooms. For some reason the whole thing felt Victorian!
We understand what your New York relative is going through. Our community lived with wildfire smoke and evacuation threats for about a month last summer. Scary times with the closest fire about 10 miles from us. I agree that great air filer/purifiers are a necessitiy.
