Daily Diary, Day 642: Yesterday I was more productive in writing front than expected. Wrote 945 words, and almost done with a chapter. Only one more chapter and then the epilog left to write. Anxious to get to the rewriting, since I am at the stage where I keep thinking of things I need to go back and do better.
One phone call planned today, and then more writing. Certainly should be able to finish this chapter, maybe even get first scene in next chapter written. Last evening, I made airline reservations for my daughter and grandsons to come visit at the end of the month. It will have been two and a half years since I've seen them. Gives me a definite motivation to get this story finished and off to beta readers before they arrive.
Rio the border collie came to visit again this morning. As usual, amusing to watch them play, they chase each other, then wrestle on the ground doing this mock biting and growling. I don't know how they keep from injuring each other, but they do!
I also took a 20 min walk. Foot hurt a bit, but not terribly, and calmed down as soon as I got home, which is my yardstick that I'm not damaging it by walking. Will see about a second walk this afternoon. Almost done with my Georgette Heyer audiobook, really enjoying it, although it is abridged and I am so familiar with the book that I am noticing what they are cutting out.
We have been watching episodes of Candice (french police, 4th season) and Senora Volpe (British spy in Italy), both nicely done. Tried the new British show, Responder, with Martin Freeman, who we generally like, but way too grim, so we couldn't finish first episode. As you can see, I am leaning to lighter fare right now, in listening and watching. How about you all?
Jacaranda trees are in full bloom now. Really lovely, but what a mess on the ground!
We love Martin Freeman too and like you, found the first episode of Responder too grim and dark to finish.
Dear Louisa, I suppose the best of the world is working in some sort of interactive zeitgeist. Your note to your readers, initially proposing your daily blog, but explaining the reasoning behind it, caught my interest because I, and I suspect a great many of your readers, identify with the 'how-do-I-keep-the-energy-and-originality-flowing? syndrome.
I have kept a notebook for ever - well, for the past forty plus years. Every now and then I actually look back through them to sample the moments of the day or to find those strange, incidental moments of creativity. Following your initial series blog I identified with your drive to build/rebuild your creativity and to reconnect with your 'muse' - I'm putting words in your mouth here, but that's how I interpreted it.
I have started going back through my old notebooks, specifically with the intention of rekindling the creative state of mind.
It works! Better than I ever imagined!
...maybe I'll even get something published one day...
(but in the meantime, I feel, at last, that I have a useful creativity foundation.)
thank you for the inspiration, Louise.
your fan
Chris
