Daily Diary, Day 649: I just typed THE END to my first complete draft of Mrs. Stein Solves a Crime. I averaged 1171 words a day this week, almost double the rate I had been writing. However, I also skipped a walk here and there, and wasn't as good about doing PT exercises every day. In addition, I've had trouble getting my full 8 hours of sleep because mornings like this morning, when I woke at 4:30, the brain started working on plot stuff. So, seems clear to me that isn't a pace I can maintain over any length of time, just in spurts.
As I mentioned before, at this stage in the writing, I have no perspective on the story. But I hope it has the makings of a fun novella.
I might try to take a few days off, before I start to read through the whole thing (it is currently just shy of 40,000 words, my longest novella yet.) But, I won't be surprised if I get back to work at it Sunday. The truth is, the reward for finishing the draft, is, I get to start to polish it (smile.) BUT NOT TONIGHT!
You deserve a break today !💖
