Daily Diary, Day 676: What am I watching?
While my family was here, we watched episodes of Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events, a big favorite with grandson Michael. We had “watched” some episodes with him already (he and his mother in Washington watching on their TV, while we were here watching at same time, connected by phone.) The first time we did this, Michael got on the phone and wanted to alert us to the fact that the very characters who were most helpful to the orphans in the series were the ones who were going to die, and he didn’t want us to be too upset! Needless to say, as his grandmother, I thought this was very sweet.
Last night, after they left for the airport, my husband and I picked up where we had left off in our nightly TV viewing. We watched a new episode of The Old Man (Jeff Bridges action adventure), and the new episode of Dark Winds (Hillerman). I was sad to read that there has been strong negative reaction by some Navajo, particularly unhappy with the scenes where actors spoke Dine language inaccurately or rested on too easy stereotypes. We topped the evening off with the newest episode of Only Murders in the Building. Enjoyed all three shows. Tonight we will probably watch Grace (British copy show) and Irma Vep. And we were excited to hear there are new episodes of Brokenwood (Australian police show.)
We have also been watching a lot of the sandscape that our daughter brought us. It is endlessly fascinating, and very meditative!
Dear Sister -
How delightful to read this entry. How sweet that your Grandson wanted to prepare you!
I love that you and Jim enjoy good movies and series as I do. I never was much of a TV / movie watcher earlier in life but I sure am now! I tried to see if I could stream this series mentioned on the ones I have, but I can't. Always looking for a good series to watch (which of course is quite subjective!)
Sending you love,
Alice
