Daily Diary, Day 697: Yesterday was one of those days that took a quick unexpected turn. Went out to have my husband drive me to the optometrist (since I might have to have my eyes dilated) and the car did this odd thing of beeping several times, then the dashboard gave one of those scary red exclamation points in a triangle, then everything died.
So after much consulting with AAA and the Toyota Place (it is a 2007 Prius), finally decided to get jump started, take to our local auto shop, which is in walking distance. The diagnosis was needed a new battery--a slightly better one than we had that might hold charge better. My husband has been dutifully driving the car once a week, but evidently with a battery that has already been dead a couple of times, that isn't enough. But at least we didn't need to get a new car!
And the upside was also I got more written than I thought I would since yesterday was my noon zoom meeting, and two phone meetings afterwards. So, right now my average for 5 days writing is 816 words a day, not bad.
I didn't get a walk in yesterday, but I did today, the full hour, then Rio came to play, although our dog pretty much sat and looked at the other dog as if he was nuts to run around when it was hot and humid!
At least we are not having the heat my daughter and grandsons are having up in Olympia WA. Wednesday they went to a lake, Thursday to the movies, and today the plan was to spend as much of the day as possible in the apartment complex pool. She sent a picture of their dog splayed out, trying to stay cool
We had a lovely sunset last night, not the usual gray marine layer of late, so I will end with that. I only have one phone call scheduled today, so I hope to get enough written that the week's average will get up to 1000 words a day--which was my goal.
Yes, and I am glad that you didn't have to get a new car as well! It sure is a scary thing when we head out someplace and the car dies!
