Daily Diary, Day 1053: Ok, I finally finished the epilogue just a few minutes ago, having written over 1500 words today, on top of 700 yesterday. I did this on top of regular cleaning, and my early morning walk, but I was able to finish by pretty much forgoing doing anything else besides reading some newspaper and substack articles while I ate lunch.
Because I really am anxious to get theses last two sections (scene 12, and epilogue) to you, so I can actually start the editing and rewriting process, I have put them up as separate posts, with the caveat that the epilogue may have a higher number of typos than usual. I will leave all the Dandy and the Dognapper posts up for the next 4-5 days for those of you who want to finish reading the draft, or have been putting off starting it until it is finished, and now want to read the whole thing.
However, once I have done my first major edit, I will be putting the ebook up for pre-order and take the draft down. The reason for this is that showing readers a rough draft of my work as I wrote it has been an experiment, and I know there will be some minor and perhaps substantial changes in the story during editing process. As a result, I don’t want people to confuse the rough first draft with the polished finished product.
I do some polls in posts in the coming week and again after the publication goes live at the end of August,to get some feedback from you all about the experiment and whether I want to do anything like this in the future.
OK, time to post this. For those of you who want to start to read the rough draft from the beginning now, click HERE for the opening scene.
For those of you new to my newsletter, who want to learn about the experiment, this short post describes what my intentions were.
Time to go collapse! But here is a sunflower to brighten your day!
So fun. Thanks for this experiment. I'm eager to read the published story now. (And then share it with my dog-owner friends.)
