Daily Diary, January 3, 2023 Day 854: It has rained all day! The fine misty sort, with our local station saying we have only accumulated a little over half an inch since midnight. But my poor husband has taken our dog out 3 times for a walk, each time because it looked like it was letting up, each time getting pretty wet and feeling he had to cut the walk short.
This morning the city weather forecast said the rain would stop by 11, so I figured I would try to walk this afternoon. Then the forecast said, 12:30, and finally it said the rain would end at 4:30, which is ten minutes away. But it still looks pretty grey to the west of us. So no walk, which is probably just as well.
I don't know if you remember but last week I started adding a very steep hill to my daily walk. Very proud of the cardiac effect. Well, seems to have kicked up some painful bursitis in my right leg, and that steep hill is the best explanation for why this is happening. So, having another day with no walk is probably a good idea. Sigh.
However, on a positive note, with no walk, not even any time spent cleaning (since I only clean when my husband is walking the dog because of his dust allergies) the pain has subsided a good deal, and I got to work all day on writing, just now hitting 2027 words.
As a result, after I post this, I plan on stopping for the day and trying to catch up on reading other people’s substack posts before dinner.
Tomorrow during the day it is not supposed to rain (although another storm is coming in the evening and will last much of Thursday) so my plan is to see if I can get in a light cleaning and a very short walk, then spend the rest of the day writing.
I got a couple of suggestions for the weed in yesterday's photos from you all, and I think it is some kind of wood sorrel, given my quick look through google images. (Although I did find one photo of a kind of clover that looks similar.) Today, the photos are of a very large tree, with a girth that makes it looks way older than the 30 some years the neighborhood has existed. But I find the twisted nature of the trunk very intriguing. Hope you do as well.
