Daily Diary, Day 875: Another day that just slipped away from me in terms of writing. So far, only 67 new words, and little chance I will write more.
I started around 8 doing daily clean, but with extra work to get ready for the window cleaners--which mean moving things off of shelves or moving furniture in front of windows, which meant extra dusting and dust mopping because...dust (smile). And it also meant taking the pots of basil and soap containers etc that sit on the shelf between the sink and the bay windows, which prompted some extra counter cleaning. In short, the daily clean doubled in terms of time. Then some discussion about the quotes we got for solar--and determining what follow up questions we need to ask, with some googling things like California new Net usage law, what California or Federal tax incentives, etc. Eventually this meant writing to our tax preparer to answer some questions. This is the stage where I start to wonder how someone my age who isn't working to keep their brain working with writing and handling the ins and outs of using technology in order to publish handles these sorts of issue that are making my head explode.
Once the window cleaners came (from a small local company we have used for decades that recently was bought out by a national company-but the same guy who has been coming for most of those decades was still working.) Anyway, they took just over an hour to do all the windows and screens, and what a difference. Particularly because it was a sunny day. Every room was brighter! Of course, first bad fog, the rain showers predicted for Sunday and Monday, especially if there is any wind, will take care of that. But hey, for the next couple of days I am really going to enjoy that.
Husband took dog for a walk while they were here, and I didn't try to write but instead did the fairly tedious and time consuming process of emailing all the people who participated in the raffle of Spotify free codes that I made part of my monthly promotional newsletter. Spotify is trying to get people used to the idea that they now sell audiobooks, by giving us codes that people can use to download our books for free. I said I would use 15 of these codes - a great deal because I started out with the 4-book boxed set. But only 19 people said they wanted to participate so rather than using number generator to pick the 15, I just gave everyone who participated a free code. I will do a raffle for a different book each month.
As soon as they left, and I put the house to rights again, I decided I better get in my walk, and fortuitously my step-sister called, so I was able to do walk and talk, getting in my 40 min walk, and then it was lunch time!
After lunch, more discussion about solar panels, more research, ordered some stuff on Amazon (things like Fish Oil, calcium, protein shakes and one of Leeza's favorite bones to chew on). And then I started to write, at which point got a phone call (a friend shocked by sudden death of someone she knew), and well...here we are, with that pitiful 67 words.
Ok, I'm not that upset. It happens, and I was glad I could be available to my talk to my step-sister and friend, and loved giving away free codes, and CLEAN WINDOWS! And, as I was writing this a huge flock (50 or more) noisy crows flew around the house, landed on a tree up the street, then took off to the canyon, I assume to roost for the night. What's not to like about that for a day.
Now I'm going to upload the photo of these perky little wildflowers/weeds? I saw in one yard that gave a much needed spot of color to my walk today.
