Daily Diary, Day 853: I'm going to make this a short post because I want to get some writing on my novel today, given that I spent absolutely all day yesterday writing my New Year's post reviewing 2022 and setting goals for 2022. When I realized I wrote over 2600 words for that post, made me realize if I can just put the novel first for the next couple of weeks, I should be able to finish this draft. Of course, didn't happen today (smile.) Today I did the cleaning I didn't do yesterday because it didn't make sense to mop floors etc, when the heavy rains the night before meant lots of mud.
Today we've actually has a respite, although mostly cloudy, but next storm is supposed to hit in less than 2 hours, and rain off and on through the next 24 hours! In any event, between doing some marketing stuff, weekly deep clean, and a phone call, the day's almost done and the writing I did was mostly editing (which means words cut.) As a result, despite putting in an hour of writing this morning, I have exactly 31 new words written. But tomorrow I am going to write first.
Today I didn't walk because I was cleaning, but yesterday, when I did walk, I took pictures of what I call the Heron garden. All that green, including the bunch with yellow flowers, is some weed, but until it dies and turns brown, I'm glad to leave it be. Pretty and protects the soil from drying out.

Thanks for the insight that some weeds and some words can serve to fill an empty space until the right time and inspiration replace a place holder.
