Daily Diary, Day 863: Another fairly balanced day. I did cleaning and a 40 minute walk, then got about 500 words written in the morning. Then, as often happens on Thursday, I had a phone call before my zoom meeting at noon, then talked with several people after the meeting, still on zoom. I have gotten another 300 or so words written this afternoon. I also did some marketing type stuff by changing website to reflect the discounts that started on the audiobook editions of the 3 books in the Caelestis series. These discounts will run through the end of March, and I hope will encourage people to listen for the first time, or revise these books to get ready for the publication of the newest book, which I hope will be out this spring.
I also started advertising a Bookfunnel promotion of historical mysteries series that I have put my Victorian San Francisco Mystery series into, trying to figure out how to get Facebook to do a better job of showing it to people. Current advice is to put the link into the comments, because FB suppressed any posts with links that take the readers off of the FB universe. (grumble, grumble.)
On a lighter note, I also decided to start looking for some signs that the rain, now followed by a couple of sunny days, is having some effect on the plants, and lo and behold, found that these narcissus bulbs, which suddenly started showing up about a decade ago, have bloomed. Each year there are more of them (is this what bulbs do?) and l love seeing them.
I noticed today that a few of these have put up the stalks but no blooms yet in South Georgia....however, a freeze is moving in, so not sure if they will survive.
Narcissus are definitely early birds in the bulb family. They’re so cheery! In the right spots they will happily spread. They are just poking up here in the PNW so we won’t be seeing flowers for at least another month, fortunately pots are for sale at grocery stores.
