Daily Diary, Day 862: A very different kind of day today. We actually got in the car and drove up the coast bit (30 minute drive each way) to see good friends from Canada who were visiting their son and family in Anaheim.
So, first decent length trip in the EV. We are on a learning curve in terms of how long it takes to charge at home on a 110. We know we need to upgrade, either just to a 220 or a special charger. But we are waiting for the Solar company that put up our solar panels 11 years ago to give us a consultation. They have now moved big time into solar charging as well. Anyway, while the trip was really short, it did feel like an adventure.
We met at a restaurant with outdoor seating, that served breakfast as well as lunch. This served both my need to feel less risky in spending 2 or more hours with people who had just traveled from Canada, as well as my need to keep my carbs low and my protein high with an egg-based meal. And it was lovely to catch up with these friends face-to-face, first time since Covid.
And no rain, even sunshine by the time we got home. And we are supposed to have sun off and on tomorrow and Friday, with no rain until Saturday.
Didn't have time to walk this morning, but I did get 250 words written before we had to take off. And then when we got home, I did some bills, and then took a phone call. And suddenly time to go make my salad for dinner!
Again, nice break in routine all around. Here is a photo from earlier in the week, one of those little libraries nestled in a pine tree.
I have a Little Free Library too. Once started it keeps going on its own. I'm near an elementary school so a lot are kids books. We put a small solar light in ours (from one of those pathway lights) so summer evenings I still see people purusing the books.
Glad you had a nice outing! I think little outings like you described are so important for our mental health. The energies spent happily visiting safely with family and friends are returned to us many times over. I love the little libraries, they’re a treasure trove for a neighborhood.
