Daily Diary, Day 861: For all of you who know that weather is one of my favorite things, today was both a disappointment and a joy. The disappointment was that after lots of warnings about heavy rain that was supposed to arrive last evening and go through most of today, with lots of thunderstorms, as so often happens in this region, by the time the big storm that went through up north of us got down here, it had pretty much fizzled.
Now, I appreciate that for those who have been battling rain and floods and mudslides this is a silly thing to complain about, but I was the tiniest bit disappointed.
It did rain last night, the usual sort of heavy mist we get, and most of this morning it was cloudy with occasionally enough precipitation in the air to keep the streets wet.
However, the only time it rained hard in the morning was the exact time both my husband and I chose to go out for our walks. My husband turned around and brought Leeza (who does not like the rain) home. But I continued on, and in truth, it only lasted 10 mins, and then was completely dry for the rest of the walk. (See photo of water running down the street and me right after rain stopped, with my black fedora sprinkled with rain drops)
Then we had a brief, very hard rain after lunch about an hour ago, see the next photo taken of scene from side window. But this only lasted about 15 mins.
Oh, dear. My husband just took Leeza out for last afternoon walk, and I swear, it has started to rain again, although not too hard. Nope, already stopped!
Anyway, as you can see, we did have weather, I actually got to walk in it, which I enjoyed, but it wasn't nearly as exciting as promised.
Otherwise, it was a relatively good day for writing. I am up to 729 words and should get some more done before dinner. I also got 30 mins cleaning, 30 minute walk, and 10 minutes physical therapy exercises (with no pain) so that's great.
This morning I got a sweet email from a Korean who lived with my parents in the seventies for two years while he finished his PhD in archeology at University of Pittsburgh. They loved having him stay with them, hosted his wedding, and were proud of his career back in S. Korea.
He lost contact with my dad, probably when my father started to show the first signs of Alzheimer's, and his daughter did some sleuthing on google and found me and one of the tributes I did for my father. Good old cyberspace!
Oh, last weather update, a blast of sunshine just made it to where I am sitting inside, so I went out and took the last photo of the beginning of blue sky to the west. So, yay, WEATHER!
