Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary, Day 1619:
Yesterday, as all Thursdays are, was busy with noon zoom meeting and phone calls. Did manage to do a little bit of work on the short story, and even the novel, but not much.
Cloudy and chilly most of the day, but the projected possibility of rain did not pan out for yesterday, but this morning it was misty, and then actually gave us some rain. Enough to get our dog wet on her first walk, leaving cute muddy paw prints throughout the house. Glad I didn’t have time to dust mop this morning. But I did get in my 6 am yoga.
However, today is pretty booked up with phone calls, starting with a call to see how my friend who had been in hospital was doing. She is home, but she arrived home with a cold (probably from one of her nurses who was coughing but didn’t stay masked). Not good since coughing is very bad for not retearing the injury to her spleen! But she is very glad to be home, nevertheless.
However, that call was followed by a great catch-up call with a friend I have had since grade school! But then I have one more call scheduled before lunch, and one for after lunch, so I may not even try to work. Hey, I might even take a break and try to finish reading the novella I have been reading in 5-minute increments before bedtime.
At night we have been continuing to enjoy Case Histories, Trent, High Potential, Abbot Elementary(glad to see these last two were renewed) and Kaminsky Method.
Meanwhile, here are two photos of rain? mist?, the first out our back to the west, the second from the side window to the north (where they have been getting a lot more rain than us.) It is raining again, but actually looks a lot more like blowing fog. But any precipitation is welcome.
