Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully. Occasionally, I will also publish some of my shorter fiction in this newsletter to read for free.
Daily Diary,Day 1633:
Yesterday was another busy day in terms of paying bills, my two meetings, and doing more clean-up associated with all the moving around of furniture. Below is a photo of the guest room all put together, and as you can see, I was able to keep my chair next to the window so I can continue to enjoy the olive tree.

My husband also put together a recumbent exercise bike I had ordered. And now the room that had been filled with boxes is mostly empty except for the bike. My hope is that I can use the bike to work to supplement walking (since that is so problematic at this point) and since my feet have made walking fast, or for any distance difficult, it should also help with my cardiovascular health.
I scheduled a company to come on Saturday to haul everything away to give to the Salvation Army, then I can do some more work…much left over from the remodel…on the laundry room where we store stuff. And then, maybe back to regular life and some progress on writing.
All good steps to getting our house back in order. However, I was bushed by the end of the day, every muscle complaining, mostly for the number of times I went up and down the stairs. This morning, after another good night’s sleep in the new bed, I feel much better and made some progress on getting the stuff to be hauled away in good order, so it is obvious what goes and what doesn’t.
And I have one phone call this afternoon. And maybe I will actually get to the taxes! But first I am going to take a look at the instructions on how to work the bike!
Everything I publish in this newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for what I am writing by clicking the button below to upgrade to paid, thereby providing me more resources so I can spend more time writing my fiction and less time marketing. In addition, please do click on the heart so I know you’ve been to visit and/or share with your friends, and I always welcome comments! Thanks!
I want to add to my previous message. You inspire me to keep going and doing even with pain. If you can do the walking, exercising, etc. Then I can too.
I love the little doggy in the corner! I didn't know Dandy had such a fashionable coat!
