Welcome, I’m Mary Louisa Locke, the author of the USA Today best-selling Victorian San Francisco Mystery series and the Caelestis Science Fiction series. In this daily newsletter, I reflect on my life as an indie author trying to age gracefully, including my struggles to maintain a balanced life, what I listen to, read, and watch for entertainment, and occasional bits of information I’ve gleaned from doing the research for my novels.
In addition, now and again I will provide some of my fiction to read, for free, on this newsletter. Everything is available to anyone who subscribes, but I am always pleased when someone shows their appreciation for the newsletter by upgrading to paid.
Daily Diary, Day 1556:
Yesterday went much better. While the splint on the left hand does make some things awkward (and my typing a lot slower), being able to whip off my glove and regular splint from my right hand whenever doing something like opening a door, or brushing my teeth, or holding a fork, made life so much easier.
I wasn’t able to get an appointment to refit the right splint because everyone was booked up leading up to xmas. But I’m in no rush, since this makes it easier for me to continue with my decision to only try to correct the finger problem in one hand at a time.
And, 20 of you went out and bought your copies of Where the Glassflowers Grow yesterday, which pushed the book up into the top 100 subcategories of science fiction-colonization and time travel! And, the print edition came out very swiftly and is now available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble! Again, you can find where to buy the book as ebook or now print by clicking HERE.
It is extremely foggy this morning. Before the sun rose, we couldn’t even see to the end of the street. However, this kind of marine layer kept the temperature from going down as low last night, and as it burns off, the temperature will be about 5 degrees higher in the day.
I have a zoom call scheduled with a friend in a bit, but the rest of the day I will concentrate on working on my comments on my friend’s manuscript and getting in 60 minutes of chair yoga and pilates.
As you can see by photo, Leeza’s agenda for today includes lots of sleeping.
