Daily Diary, February, 17, 2023 Day 899: Another day of over 1000 words written, and the possibility that I might actually finish the draft this weekend is becoming more of a reality. I did have two phone calls today, one short, one long, but I was able to get right back into writing each time.
This afternoon I started on the last scene (really big action scene) that comes right before the last chapter in the book. If all goes well, maybe I can get that done tomorrow morning, which would give me a good day and a half to do the last chapter-which is basically the epilog.
I am not going to spend a lot of time on that chapter because there are some themes in the book that I may be shifting to the next book (and therefore wouldn't need to be wrapped up in this final chapter.) And I won't know that until I have done at least the first pass through of the manuscript.)
Anyway, feeling very positive about my progress, although the fact that I will most definitely hit 140,000 words in this draft by the time I am done is very daunting in terms of the time it is going to take to edit at this stage.
Here is an illustration that I have used before, but it definitely captures my feeling when I am writing this much day, after day.
What a lovely feeling, such productivity... seeing the growth of Words and Story!
WOW! I can’t even imagine 140,000 words. And, how you can keep the story straight and plan for the next book. I’m learning a lot. Thanks!
