Daily Diary, Day 822: Shifting doing this post to earlier in the day today, trying to figure out if this is a better time than the after dinner post time I did for the month of November. Mostly, this seemed a good time to take a break before I start lunch.
This morning I started to work on updating my science fiction books for my ebooks, both the interior text to update links and the new book covers my author friend did. I still have to update audiobook covers, then work on updating on webpage, etc.
This is the kind of detailed work that requires me not to try to multi-task (like looking at newspaper articles) while I do it, since that's how mistakes like uploading the text for the wrong book can happen! Once, I've done all this, I will give a link were you can all check them out, and also post them on my December promotional newsletter which I hope to send out this Sunday.
I also did my 60 minute walk (listening to a Dick Francis, where the protagonist just was thrown out a balcony.) His books always have come sort of scene where the main character gets beat up, or something, not sure what that is all about. There are a number of articles I've read recently that his wife had a good deal of input (often doing the research as well as helping with editing) into his books, but there is the suggestion that they never thought about putting her as co-author because it would discourage men from reading the books. Definitely the recurring plot thread of being beaten bloody seems to have definitely made this a writer who could appeal to men and women. Now that both are deceased, their son has started writing in the series, making it a definite family affair.
Besides my walk, did more my weekly thorough upstairs cleaning and several loads of laundry and did a scheduled phone call. And now, I will do my PT and lunch.
Since it is getting dark early, and on days like yesterday quite cloudy, I have started turning on this lovely little tree my daughter gave to us a couple of winters ago. I also put two little winter themed birds that make me smile they are so darn cute. We don't sit in the living room at night (which is where this little tree sits in the middle of our built in shelves, over the fireplace), so I like to turn the tree on as the sun goes down, makes it more cheerful when I need to go through the room.
Re Dick Francis' books: I have always thought his heroes' pain showed how dangerous the world can be to anyone. Most of his protagonists have been amateur sleuths and are a lesson to the reader to "not try this at home".
Another of my favorite authors also has her protagonists go though particularly onerous physical trials and always just at the end of her books. That author is Andre Norton.
