Daily Diary, Day 1069: Extraordinarily pleasant day today. Both because of the weather, warm, but nice breeze, no clouds yet, no need for A/C, but also because I have been productive in terms of getting more and more of the busywork of publishing and life off of my plate in preparation for getting the draft back to do the last edit. So nice crossing things off the to-do list.
Didn't walk this morning because of my doctor's appointment. Was with the dermatologist. I have fair skin, and I made the usual atttempt in my teen years to get a tan (back in the early sixties when sun tan lotion tended to be designed to tan you slowly, not block harmful rays.) that have come back to haunt me. Had a basil cell skin cancer on my shoulder in my late 30s, a squamous cell cancer on a thigh in my late fifties, and every 6 months to a year go to have a good number of pre-cancerous spots on my face burned off.
The doctor was complimentary, ie, said I probably didn't need to come in again for a year, unless I was worried about something. I always chuckle at myself and how pleased I am when a doctor indicates I am "doing a good job" of taking care of myself. I feel as if they have given me a gold star!
Since then, I have finished the job of updating the back matter in my books to include the new buy link for Dandy and the Dognappers. This meant making the change on the 32 books, then uploading each book to 4 different sites, and each site is organized slightly differently and takes a minimum of 5 actions to successfully update and republish. And a couple of times I have gotten a little too fast and uploaded the wrong text to a book--thank heavens always noticed this quickly and changed, but that really gets the heart pounding imagining someone opening up one book, say Bloody Lessons, and in stead getting one of my short stories!
I have also written an Author's Notes to go with the novella, and I am almost caught up with magazine and substack reading.
Now to do lunch dishes and attend to laundry. Here are some more cheerful yellow blooms.
Such lovely blooms. I am recuperating from back surgery (nicely) but not out and about , so your flower picture bring me outside joy!
Well, I would give you a gold star for doing such a good job of taking care of yourself too! I will even give you another one for inspiring me to do better!
