Daily Diary, Day 585: A number of people from my facebook page took the time to come over and see what my decision to start posting on substack was about...thanks, I appreciate it. Writing the section to go into the About tab was an interesting experience because it made me think about why I was doing this daily diary. If you are interested, do check the About tab.
Of course, one of the reasons I report on my daily activities is to motivate me in my writing, and I did in fact get exactly 200 words written yesterday before doing my PT exercises and eating lunch. Then a friend came over to discuss life and marketing books for 2 hours. This was followed up by a phone call with a friend who has recently lost her father. Then my second short walk.
On my walks I've started listening to The Crow Trap, by Anne Cleeves-which is her first Vera Stanhope mystery. My husband and I love the TV show, so I am wondering how I'm going to like the narrated book.
It was warm enough to require open windows last night--and something in the neighborhood caused our dog Leeza to wake us up twice as she growled ferociously. Needless to say it took awhile to get my heart to stop racing and get back to sleep. Going to be even hotter today. I predict the combination of lack of sleep and heat is going to make me drowsy mid day. I will have my regular noon zoom meeting--but it will be interesting if I can get any more words written after that.
To beat the heat, this morning I got out walking by 8:30, and its already 85 now at 10, and Santa Ana winds predicted for this afternoon, which should make it even hotter. Poor rose buds, I'm afraid those that have come out are going to get fried. On yesterday's second walk I saw this tulip like plant--but the plant itself doesn't look at all like a tulip. Very strange, any of you know what it is?
Interesting flower. It looks like a bloom from the hen and chicks succulent. Mine have never bloomed that extravagantly. It must be a San Diego special!😊 The little daisies are very sweet. We have them growing wild here in the Upper Willamette Valley. Thoroughly enjoy your jaunts around your neighborhood.
