Daily Diary, Day 964: Another beautiful spring day, not too hot, not too cold. Spent 2 hours off and on doing the main weekly deeper clean, laundry, interspersed with working on friend's manuscript, almost half way through now.
I have had one phone call this morning, another scheduled for this afternoon, a minor editing request for a friend's short article, and continuation of the beta read to do this afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon had my husband and I had a lovely FaceTime chat with our three nieces. I met them the first time, I think, 2 summers before I got married, when I was visiting his home in Atlanta, and we drove up to Chattanooga where his sister lived. That was 53 years ago, when the youngest was probably about 5, the oldest 10. The oldest two remember attending our wedding, and now the three of them have six children between them.
The eldest niece has 3 children, two married, one recently engaged, and 1 grandchild, with another on the way. The youngest has one child and one grandchild, and the middle one has 2 children, the son getting married in a few weeks, and a daughter, who is getting married next fall.
This grand niece moved to San Diego about 5 years ago, and this as been such fun to be able to get to know her as an adult. Not only have we enjoyed getting to know her and her fiancé, but also because it means her parents come to visit, so we get to see them as well.
I'm an only child, so having had my husband's sister, and now these three nieces and their children, in my life for so long has been absolutely wonderful.
Last evening we watched the first episode of the 3rd season of Grace, another British police procedural. As my husband said at the end, "pretty grim." The acting was good, but none of the humor (even the black humor kind) that I find leavens crime dramas. We ended the evening with Candice Noir, which does have that bit of humor I need, especially right before bed.
Didn't walk, given the 2 hours spent cleaning, but here is a photo from one of last week's walk. You can tell by the drops on the leaves this was one of the early morning walks when there had been fog over night.
