Daily Diary, Day 962: I've been steadily working on going through the copyeditor's suggestions, and I am on chapter 30, so I will have no trouble finishing this stage tomorrow morning to send it off to the proof reader.
Got going early this morning to do cleaning, start several loads of laundry, and get in my 40 minute walk before it got too hot, and was done with shower before Rio the border collie came to play. It is so interesting, they both get exceedingly excited about coming together, but unlike the first year of doggie play dates the pretty much ignore each other (grew out of puppy stage?) Rio's main interest now is in getting my husband to throw this specific rubber bone for him, and our dog Leeza finds this whole process completely mystifying. But we enjoy chatting with Rio's owner, and every once in a while the dogs actually chase each other.
Speaking of getting hot, on Wednesday the high in our neighborhood was 65, yesterday it was 72, and today the high was 84 degrees, and currently it has only slipped to 81. I am very glad I got the walk in early. The prediction for the city was 76, as it is for tomorrow, so I will definitely try to get walk in early again. But then a slight cooling trend for a few days.
Photos are from the same plant, the first during an early morning walk, the second taken in the afternoon when the plant has been in the sun. I hadn't noticed that the flowers of this particular ice plant closes each night before.
At one time I lived where I could see ice plants. They are interesting.
