Daily Diary, Day 592: What a gorgeous day it was yesterday. Today looks like it will be the same. Sunny, a bit windy, not too hot for my walks. And I am feeling so much stronger. Still limiting the total time of each of my walks to be on the safe side, but I can tell I'm walking faster because I cover so much more ground in the time limit. Even pushed it a bit yesterday before dinner and did 15 mins versus 10, which put me to 65 mins walking over all yesterday and no lingering pain in the foot with the broken toe. The roses all over the neighborhood are enjoying the weather as well.
I confess I didn't get any writing done yesterday, because of some marketing tasks and 3 phone calls. But I hope to do better today. So far only have my Thursday noon zoom meeting scheduled.
Last evening my husband and I re-watched some Russian Doll episodes from last season in preparation for season two that starts next week. It is even more impressive on second viewing. And even better, it's a show that my husband and I like equally.
If you know what a venn diagram is...I would say that the section where we overlap in terms what we both like to watch (tv, films) is about 40-50%. When we don't agree, mostly we try to take turns watching things that one of us or the other likes better than the other. And then there are the shows that we generally don't watch together, ever. For example he will watch something he likes while I am upstairs doing exercises or walking and I will watch during my lunch time and his nap time.
But Russian Doll is definitely in the sweet spot for us. There are also times when I watch something from his side of the venn diagram that I end up absolutely loving. He was a film major in college and much more willing to experiment with obscure foreign films, etc. than I am. I'm afraid my side of the venn diagram is more likely to hold reality shows like So You Think You Can Dance, and Project Runway, and I know there is no reason to push him into watching them. Such are the compromises that make up a good marriage. In a month we will have been married 50 years! So we are doing something right.
What compromises do you make for people (or animals) in your life?
